NASHVILLE — Luke Bryan honors the 'Single Again' singer during a red carpet interview.
Josh Ross was in for a big surprise at his first CMA Awards when American Idol judge Luke Bryan interrupted his red carpet interview to present him with the Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award.
As Ross chatted with On The Red Carpet about his excitement for the night, Bryan suddenly appeared, saying, "We're crashing for a good reason. We got a surprise for you."
The surprise? Ross was honored with the prestigious award, recognizing his achievements as a rising global country artist.
“I'm on the verge of tears, and it's only the beginning of the night. Dude, what the heck?” Ross responded, clearly emotional.
Bryan explained why Ross was being recognized, saying, “He’s been out there killing it on the road, knocking it out of the park. The CMAs came to me and said, ‘We’re gonna have some fun with this guy.’ Congratulations!”
Ross, deeply moved by the honor, shared what it meant to him. “I've always dreamed of being an international, global artist. We played in four different countries this year, and we did 170 shows. This really means a lot. Thank you to Luke. Thank you to the CMAs. It’s very special — my first CMAs, what the heck?”
The 58th Annual CMA Awards are airing on ABC and will be available to stream on Hulu starting tomorrow.
