Note: Spoilers ahead for The Masked Singer Season 12, Episode 8, "Miley Cyrus Night."
The latest episode of The Masked Singer certainly came in like a wrecking ball — fitting, since it was Miley Cyrus Night.
While Miley herself didn’t make an appearance, her influence was felt throughout the entire episode. Contestants performed some of her greatest hits, and the clues were filled with subtle references to the Hannah Montana star.
The night kicked off with the members of Group C — Strawberry Shortcake, Royal Knight, Sherlock Hound, and Ice King — performing *Party in the U.S.A.*, Miley’s 2009 anthem. The performances were fun, and the energy was high.
After the opening group number, Sherlock Hound sang *Used to Be Young*, a track that perfectly showcased his vocal style. Meanwhile, Ken Jeong made a self-deprecating comment, joking, "Don’t let [my] look fool you — I look fun, wild, and young, though I’m boring, mild, and old." Surprisingly, it was Rita Ora who made the first *wrecking ball* joke, not Jeong or Robin Thicke.
As the panel continued to discuss Cyrus’ influence on the music industry, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg brought up a humorous moment referencing Miley’s infamous 2013 VMA performance with Robin Thicke. McCarthy-Wahlberg jokingly asked Thicke about his history with Miley, to which Thicke deadpanned, “No, Miley and I have never met.” The comment had Jeong laughing so hard, he had to take a lap around the table to recover.
The night continued with more performances: Ice King sang *Midnight Sky*, Strawberry Shortcake tackled *Wrecking Ball* (of course), and Royal Knight finished the musical portion with *When I Look at You*.
And, true to the theme, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg swung from the ceiling on a giant strawberry before the eliminations began — a choice that definitely added to the fun.
Sadly, it was time for one contestant to go. This week, it was Ice King who was eliminated. The panel's guesses centered around the child star clues. Rita Ora thought it might be Shia LaBeouf, Ken Jeong guessed Joe Jonas, and Robin Thicke picked Cole Sprouse.
When Ice King’s mask came off, it was revealed that the person behind the costume was none other than Drake Bell, the former Nickelodeon star known for his role in *Drake & Josh*. Bell, who has been open about his past struggles, had shared his experience with childhood abuse in the documentary *Quiet on Set* earlier this year. Coincidentally, Bell’s *Drake & Josh* co-star Yvette Nicole Brown had also appeared on *The Masked Singer* this season, where she was unmasked as Showbird.
Stay tuned for more surprises and unmaskings as The Masked Singer continues to keep fans guessing.
